SACKVILLE, N.B. — Perpetual Motion Dance Studio Inc. is getting set to hit the stage this Sunday for a day of dance at Convocation Hall, featuring the annual Christmas demonstration and troupe showcase.

The Christmas demo will get under way at 11 a.m. with dancers from the leisure program, with a few troupe numbers mixed in. The troupe showcase, which kicks off at 1:30, will feature Perpetual Motion Dance Troupe numbers as well as adults from the leisure program.

Dancers will perform short numbers in multiple styles, including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, breakdancing and more. Tickets will be available at Tidewater Books and Perpetual Motion Dance Studio in Sackville and at the door on the day of the event.

PMDS is also offering a special promotion on the day of the performances. Those who buy a ticket to the 11 a.m. leisure show and show their ticket stub can get a ticket to the afternoon show for 50 per cent off.

The members of the Perpetual Motion Dance Troupe will be performing solos, duos, and group pieces that were performed at DanceQuest competition this fall.

“The PMDT dancers won a total of 19 medals, ranging from gold to bronze. Additionally, a scholarship was awarded to Delaney Tree and Naiya Istvanffy, and a special award for highest score along with a $2,000 scholarship for a summer intensive in New York City was given to Clara Tranquilla for her own choreography in musical theatre titled Popular,” said Renee Rioux, artistic director of the studio.

The studio once again plans to offer a full dance program this winter. Registration for the winter dance session will be held on Sunday Jan. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Perpetual Motion Dance Studio Inc. at 53 E Main Street in Sackville.

“The studio has become a place for all to grow. It’s one big extended family,” said Rioux “I am forever grateful to my amazing teaching staff, all of the dancers, the parents and volunteers. Without them, the studio would not exist.”
