Auditions were held in June, a cast was chosen, and The Wizard of Oz is currently under construction.

This is the third musical in the last year and a half. The first, Grease, played to sold out audiences, while last years’ Little Shop of Horrors was met with great acclaim. Many members of both those shows will be returning to the stage at TRHS, along with some new players; some are as young as Grade 3 students. Directors Lorissa Johnson, Dale Fawthrop and Tanya Bostick found it fitting to invite younger students from Salem Elementary, Marshview Middle, Port Elgin Regional and Dorchester Consolidated Schools to play the part of the littlest of the Munchkins (as well as a few others; they don’t want to spoil all the fun by giving it all away).

Over 100 students have been eagerly preparing all of the elements of The Wizard of Oz in what promises to be an incredible show.

Bostick’s theatre arts students, the orchestra, the cast, the set crew, lights, sound, special effects, hair make up, publicity/marketing and costume designer/crew make up this largest team to date at TRHS.

The show runs from Thursday, Dec. 1, to Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m., while two matinees will play on Saturday, Dec. 3, and Sunday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased from Soper Physiotherapy or Robert Lyon Graphics for $12 (adults) or $10 (students) beginning on Nov. 9. The entire cast and crew hope that they get to see you at the show!
