SACKVILLE, N.B. – Live Bait Theatre has several exciting events going on for their 2018 summer season, including a production of the dinner theatre Uh oh, Canada, running July 11 to 21 in Sackville, drama camps and a composing with sound workshop for young people, and a special evening celebrating 30 years of Live Bait Theatre.
The new dinner theatre Uh oh, Canada! will play Wednesday to Saturday, July 11 to 21, with a delicious dinner to be served at the newly renovated Sackville Legion.
Written and directed by Charlie Rhindress, Uh oh, Canada! is a hilarious new musical dinner theatre that tells the history of Canada through songs and skits as a group of well-intentioned misfits try to celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary, a year late. The show features music from Canadian artists ranging from Stompin’ Tom and Rita MacNeil to Anne Murray, Joni Mitchell and the Barenaked Ladies.
Tickets are available online, by calling Live Bait, or at Rob Lyons Graphics in Sackville or Buds to Blossoms in Amherst. The play will also be performed as a dinner theatre at the Amherst Golf Club on July 24 and 25 and in Springhill on July 26.
Two theatre camps, one for young people from Grades 5-8, and one for high school students, are also being offered in July and August. The workshops include theatre games, skill building activities, and conclude with a final presentation for friends and family. Live Bait is also offering a Composing With Sound Workshop in August in collaboration with Jeff Martin.
The final event of Live Bait’s summer season will be a Hooks, Lines and Singers: 30 Years of Live Bait Theatre! Celebration, which will take place on Monday, Aug. 27. The event will bring back many popular performers from Live Bait’s past, presenting scenes and songs from some of the company’s most popular plays, as well as a new skit involving some of the company’s most well remembered dinner theatre characters.
