SACKVILLE, N.B. — Sackville’s 19th annual Fall Fair is under way and a busy weekend is ahead in the community. Here are five things you don’t want to miss as you make your way around town over the next three days:
START YOUR WEEKEND WITH A BANG
Billed as “the best display in the Maritimes,” this year’s Fall Fair fireworks will return to the Dufferin Street sports fields behind town hall. Residents are encouraged to grab a blanket or a chair and find a spot on the Marshview Hill to watch the show. The fireworks are expected to get under way at around 9 p.m. Friday night.
DUST OFF YOUR DANCING SHOES
Get ready to dance the night away to Sonic Pulp when they take the stage on Friday night in the main tent at 9:30. The evening of entertainment will continue at 10:30 p.m. with Pretty Archie, an ECMA-nominated band that blends folk, bluegrass, country, rock and soul with their Cape Breton roots. These are both 19+ events.
On Saturday night, Kenny James & Friends take the stage for a Tom Petty tribute at 8:30, while The Ray Oliver Band will entertain the crowd starting at 10 p.m.
TAKE IN FAMILY DAY AT THE DONCASTER FARM
Family Day at the Doncaster Farm is back this year on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Starting at 9 a.m. and wrapping up at 5 p.m., Family Day is a full day of fun and free activities for families in Sackville
“It gets you into the spirit of the fall season and it’s a great family outing,” says Kristin Doncaster, who
took on the role as co-ordinator of the event in 2017.
Check out the horse demonstrations, pony rides and petting zoo, children’s play area, mechanical and an axe
throwing event. Plenty of musical entertainment will also be on tap throughout the day.
PARADE AROUND TOWN
Whether you’re a participant or just want to relax and watch from the sidelines, Sackville’s Fall Fair Parade on Saturday afternoon is always a hit with people of all ages.
From marching bands to antique cars, from colorful clowns to floats of all shapes and sizes, there’s plenty to see as the parade makes it way from the Drew Nursing Home up Main Street to Bridge, then Bridge to Lorne, ending near the Via Rail Station.
FLOAT YOUR BOAT
Grab your oars and anything around the house that’ll float. Build a homemade vessel from odds
and ends and put it to the test on the waters of Silver Lake during the eighth annual Anything that Floats Race on Sunday afternoon.
Preregistration is encouraged but feel free to also show up before the race begins with your vessels ready to be launched.

Laser Tag with Ground Zero – Laser Tag is like paint ball (minus the paint and pain). Come have a blast with Ground Zero on Friday from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from noon-10 p.m. in the Mount Allison King Street parking lot field.
Hinchey’s Rides and Amusements – The ever-popular midway makes its return to the Sackville Fall Fair this weekend in the Mount Allison King Street parking lot field.
Boultenhouse Heritage Centre exhibit- Boultenhouse is launching a new exhibit this weekend to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Intercolonial Railway coming to Sackville. The exhibit Is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
