SACKVILLE, N.B. – Officials with the Anglophone East School District issued a statement shortly before 9 a.m. this morning advising schools are following “standard safety protocol” in the wake of information circling on social media alluding to a threat of an event to take place on April 6.
“RCMP have investigated and concluded this is a low-level threat,” the statement reads. “Anglophone East is fully collaborating with RCMP in this matter.
“We understand that these messages can trigger emotions for parents and students. Please be assured that the Anglophone East School District takes this seriously and the safety of our staff and students is our first priority.
“Schools are open today and are following standard safety protocol.”
The statement does not indicate whether any particular school, if any, has been mentioned in the online threat.
