TRURO, N.S. — Several ground bison products from Northfork Bison Distributions Inc. are being recalled because of possible E. coli O121 and O103 contamination.

The products are sold under the names Northfork Canadian Bison Ranch, Sensations, Natural Frontier Foods, and La Terre des Bisons.

There have been no illnesses reported in connection with these products in Canada but there have been reported illnesses linked to them in the United States.

Food contaminated with E. coli O121 and O103 may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and  diarrhea. In some cases, people have seizures or strokes, need blood transfusions and kidney dialysis or live with permanent kidney damage. In severe cases, people could die.

A full list of affected products can be found on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency website.
