Cape Breton Regional Police have charged Kimberley Ann O’Dea, 36, after further investigation into Friday’s motor vehicle-pedestrian collision in Sydney Mines.
Police originally responded to the scene of the collision on Oxford Avenue at approximately 7 a.m. The victim was taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital with serious injuries and then transported to Halifax for further treatment, where she later died as a result of her injuries.
Shortly after the collision, police arrested O’Dea, the driver of the vehicle. The Investigation by the traffic safety, forensic identication and major crime units later resulted in the charges against O’Dea who was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre Saturday morning and will appear in Sydney Provincial Court on Monday.
Police say the women knew each other.
The victim’s name will not be released, pending notification of next of kin, according to regional police.
