Halifax developer Alex Halef just lost a case where he argued installing guardrails meant to protect workers from injuries or death at a building his company is constructing in the city’s north end “will cost an extraordinary amount of time, effort and money, and will cause confusion on the job site.” The Labour Board denied Halef’s company, 5858 Macara St. Ltd., an interim suspension of a compliance order issued under the province’s workplace health and safety regulations after workers were caught breaking the rules.
