NEW BRUNSWICK – NB Power is reminding customers who are having difficulty paying their power bills that there are several options available to help them this winter.
“Each year, we realize that, for some of our customers, the arrival of cold weather and higher electricity bills can pose significant challenges for many,” said NB Power president and CEO Gaëtan Thomas. “We want to do everything possible to work with our customers so that they can make it through winter without any undue hardships.”
It is important for customers who are struggling financially at this time of year to maintain contact with NB Power to avoid a disruption in service. Any customers having trouble keeping up with bill payments are encouraged to call the NB Power contact centre at 1-800-663-6272, where agents have the flexibility to make payment arrangements based on individual circumstances. The utility can also refer customers to agencies that can help.
“We recognize that some people, especially right after Christmas, might have tough choices to make when it comes to bill payments,” said Energy and Resource Development Minister Mike Holland. “People who are having a difficult time paying their energy bills are encouraged to contact NB Power and work on a mutually agreeable payment plan. We also encourage customers to explore efficiency programs that can help people save on their power bills.”
The Total Home Energy Savings Program, the Low-Income Program, the Commercial Building Retrofits Program and the Small Business Lighting Program are among the programs available to customers who wish to control their bills and reduce their energy use.
