SACKVILLE, N.B. – Get your brooms ready!
Sackville’s annual Curl for Cancer fundraiser is set for this weekend and organizers aim to bring in $10,000 throughout the day-long event.
This year’s Curl for Cancer, which will be the 28th edition of the event, will be held Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Sackville Curling Club. The long-running event has raised more than $325,000 over the years in support of cancer research and support services for people living with the disease.
Thirty teams will hit the ice during the funspiel, with draws beginning at 8 a.m. and wrapping up around 6:30 p.m. Each team will play two, three-end games and prizes will be awarded for the top fundraising teams and top individual fundraiser.
Fifty-fifty tickets will be sold throughout the day for door prizes, and the 50-50 grand prize will be drawn at the closing ceremony. There will also be tickets sold on a handmade quilt donated by the Sackville Quilters Guild.
All residents are encouraged to drop by the club during the day to support this worthy cause. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and talented local musicians and dancers will provide entertainment for participants and spectators.
