CARTER, Doris Ada 1925 - 2020 The death of Doris Ada Carter, 94, of Sackville, occurred on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the Drew Nursing Home. Born in Sackville, Doris was a daughter of the late Harris and Sarah (Ibbitson) Hicks. Doris was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always had time to help her family. She was an avid and skilled knitter and enjoyed working in the garden with her husband. She was an excellent cook who loved bowling and watching the Blue Jays play. Doris will be dearly missed by three sons, Brian (Mary), Mt. Whatley, NB, Douglas (Cynthia), Sackville, David (Cathy), Riverview, NB; one daughter, Marilyn McDougall, Calgary; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Betty Hicks, Sackville, as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends. Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William in 2008; one brother, Ted; three sisters, Marjorie MacLeod, Leona Fullerton and Myrtle Mitton, as well as her son-in-law, Glenn McDougall. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville 506-364-1300. As per Doris's wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in the Sackville Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doris may be made to the Drew Nursing Home, the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation, or to a charity of one's choice. Doris's family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at the Drew Nursing Home where she had been a resident for over five years. Doris was treated with love and respect and like one of their family while there.
