Harriet Robinson

Harriet Robinson
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Harriet Robinson of Sackville, and formerly of Dorchester, New Brunswick on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the age of 98. Harriet loved life most when she was surrounded by her daughter and sons of whom she was tremendously proud. As well as being an avid reader, she loved the challenge of daily crossword puzzles and enjoyed spending time playing scrabble with her children. She will be remembered fondly for her years as the librarian at the Dorchester Regional Library where she shared her great love of books with children and adults alike. Many will also remember her for long and dedicated service to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #16. Harriet will be greatly missed by her family and friends and affectionately remembered as a woman with a kind and gentle spirit. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to Enoch and Lucy (Meakin) Horridge of Derbyshire and Ilkeston, England. Harriet grew up in the small hillside community of Laurel Run. She later immigrated to Canada, married Frank in 1942, and settled in Dorchester where they raised their eight children. Harriet was predeceased by husband Frank and son Michael, as well as her parents and five siblings. She will be greatly missed by all her family and is survived by sons, Frank (Geraldine), Rick (Sharon), Ron (Pat), Philip (Carla), Dan (Holly), Tim (Peg), daughter Betty Noakes (Keith), grandchildren Michael, Mary Frances, Adam, Jonathan, Logan, Courtney, Breanne, Stephen, Ethan, and Simon, as well as six great granchildren. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300). A graveside service will be held at the Dorchester Rural Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Harriet's memory to the Dorchester Memorial Public Library or to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated. Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Harriet's online memorial at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca or through the Jones Funeral Home Facebook Page.
