Leo Daniel (Danny) Richard

Leo Daniel (Danny) Richard
Richard, Leo Daniel (Danny) June 24, 1948 – May 9, 2017 I am the eldest son of the late Leo and Della (Cormier) Richard; born and resided in Sackville most of my life. At the age of 17, I joined the Royal Canadian Army where I served as a Peace Keeper and short wave radio operator overseas; got moved around a bit and returned home in 1976. Then I worked as a guard and Correctional Officer at both Dorchester Penitentiary and Westmorland Institution. After retiring, I worked at Kent Building Supplies (Moncton and Amherst), Payzant Home Hardware and Sackville Cab. Larry Parsons was great to work for and the people I met were “interesting” to say the least. I truly enjoyed meeting people and hearing their stories. I lived a good life; I enjoyed golfing, fishing and the HOG. The days Doreen and I spent just touring around were memorable times; never made plans, we just went wherever the front wheel took us. We laughed a lot and created great memories. I will be leaving others in the care of family and friends. Please watch over my family and loving wife Doreen. My beautiful daughter Chrissy (Richard) Estabrooks and my caring son-in-law Matt Estabrooks. These two brought three energetic hockey grandchildren into my life: Alexa, Sophie and Matthew Blair. Also my son Darren Payzant and his partner Sheri Grieveson-Weeks and her children Cody and Mikaela. Then there is my son-in-law Joey Sears who is a great Dad to my beautiful grandchildren Catlin, Brooke, Autumn and Sebastian. I have a remarkable daughter, Tara Payzant (1977-2012), mother to Brooke and Autumn, who is waiting for me. I am fine now and I lived the good life right to the end. At my request, there will be no funeral service. Condolences and happiness were openly received at our home: 8 Morice Drive, Sackville on Saturday, May 13th starting at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Tantramar Extra-Mural. On-line condolences, sharing of memories and donations may be forwarded to the family through our website www.campbellsfuneralhome.com or by visiting the funeral home Facebook page.
