Raymong Eugene Briggs

Raymond Eugene Briggs, August 30, 1936-July 20, 2019, Sackville, N.B.- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Briggs on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Raymond was 82 years of age. Born in Malden, NB on August 30, 1936, he was the son of the late Neita (Wall) and William Briggs. Raymond was employed with CN for thirty-five and a half years as a welder. He loved animals, his horses, camping and being outdoors. He had a wonderful sense of humour and liked to joke, was always fixing something and would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Raymond enjoyed music, especially old-time fiddle and country and western. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather and a devoted husband. Raymond and Dorette were married for 57 years, and as he would always say, “never a word between us”. Raymond will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Joan (Lynnwood) Young of Stilesville, NB; his son-in-law, Kevin Read (Susan Henwood) of Sackville; his brother-in-law, Fred Girouard (Sue); his brothers, Walter Briggs of Melrose, NB and Carmel (Marceline) Briggs of Truro, NS; his grandchildren, Stacey Lynn Read (Peter Whittleton) and Jonathan Raymond Read (Kaylee Read); his great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Cedric and Emily, as well as by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Raymond was pre-deceased by his wife, Dorette Loretta (Girouard) Briggs in 2017; his daughter, Nancy Read in 2012, as well as by his sister, Carol Belliveau. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Monday, July 22, 2019 from 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church, Sackville, on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 11 am with Father Allison Carroll officiating. The burial will take place at the Holy Rosary-St. Vincent's Catholic Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Raymond may be made to the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Drew Tantramar Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
