Sackville’s atom Titans football team finishes season undefeated

SACKVILLE, N.B. – On Sunday, Oct. 8, the atom Titans hosted the Moncton White Lions at Alumni Field on the Mount Allison University campus.

The Titans continued to improve and it showed as they won the game 48-0. It didn’t take long for the Titans to get on the board as they took their opening possession the length of the field and the drive was capped off with a 17-yard TD pass from Evan Kenny to George Grantmyre.

Casey Roberts made the two-point convert, making the score 8-0.

The defense continued to play strong, allowing the Moncton offence very few yards.

A few possessions later Evan Kenny hooked up with Casey Roberts for a very well executed 60-yard TD pass. The two-point convert failed, making the score 14-0.

On their next possession, the Titans put together a nice eight-play drive, which was finished off with a 26-yard TD run by Asher Beckley. The two-point convert failed, making the score 20-0. Two possessions later, with some great blocking from the offensive line, Asher Beckley took a handoff from Oliver Hicks, made everyone miss on defense and scored a 26-yard TD. The two-point convert failed, making the score 26-0.

On their next possession, the Titans offence went back to work and John O’Neal capped off a two-play drive with a 41-yard TD run. Logan Smith kicked the two-point convert to make the score 34-0.

The defense continued to swarm all over the White Lions and quickly turned the ball back over to the offence. The next possession was a well-executed 10-play 39-yard drive, capped off with Logan Smith plunging into the end zone for a TD. Casey Roberts kicked the two-point convert to make the score 42-0.

The defense quickly turned the ball back over and two plays later Casey Roberts rambled 12 yards for another score. The convert failed making the final score 48-0.

This game was a total team effort and all the players are improving.

On Sunday, Oct. 15, the Atom Titans were back at Rocky Stone Field to take on the Moncton Red Riders. This game proved to be a good test for the young Sackville athletes. From the beginning, it was a great defensive battle with neither team giving up much until Evan Kenny connected with Casey Roberts for a 20-yard catch and run TD. Roberts converted his touchdown making the score 8-0. The Titans defense continued to play hard, limiting Moncton to very few yards and keeping great field position. The offence put a great drive together resulting in Evan Kenny scoring on a three-yard QB bootleg. The convert was no good, making the score 14-0 at halftime. The Titans took the ball to start the second half and four plays later John O’Neal took a handoff for a 15-yard TD run. Casey Roberts kicked the convert to make the score 22-0. Both defenses took over from that point, leaving the final score at 22-0 for the Titans.

The final game of the year took place on Sunday, Oct. 22, at Rocky Stone Field against the Moncton Golden Alouettes .The Titans came out flying and didn’t stop until the final buzzer. Scoring touchdowns were John O’Neal with two, Evan Kenny with two, Asher Beckley with two, Oliver Hicks with two and Carter Kingsler with one. Casey Roberts converted five of the TDs, making the final score 64-28. The Titan players would like to thank all the coaches on a great year.
