CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Captain Emma Weatherbie scored twice and Camille Scherger stopped all 12 shots she face Saturday to lead the UPEI Panthers to a 6-0 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties.
The Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey game took place at the Eastlink Centre as part of the Hockey Day in P.E.I. promotion.
Delaney Boehm, Jenna Pellerin and Faith Steeves each had a goal and an assist in the victory while Summerside’s Taylor Gillis had the game-winning goal. Kelly Clements, Kristen MacIntyre and Souris native Maria Clinton each had an assist.
Kaitlin Mowbray made 30 saves in the loss.
The game was scoreless after the first period while the Panthers took a 1-0 lead to the third.
The Panthers were 0-for-2 on the power play but killed all three of the Mounties chances.
UPEI improved to 9-6-1 while Mount Allison is 3-14-0.
The Panthers complete the weekend with a 3:30 p.m. contest with the first-place St. Thomas Tommies (15-2-0) at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris.
