Stuck for gift ideas for that special someone? Do they have/drive a motor vehicle?

Here are some suggestions for all budgets, including some stocking stuffers.

Are they especially fond of their vehicle and/or a particular brand?

How about an appropriate:

T-shirt

Coffee cup

Set of cuff links

Scale model of his/her vehicle

Books specific to the marque

All of these are available online or at a dealership.

Gift certificates for all budgets from a high-performance driving school, to a variety of services at the dealer or service departments at Canadian Tire, WalMart, etcetera. This could include anything from an oil change to a detailing job — especially appreciated during or after the winter months when all that gunk on the road is deposited on the car.

AN EMERGENCY KIT

A pair of cheap reading glassed if the intended driver uses them. Find a funky pair to create a smile in dark times.

Duct tape ranks right up there with the discovery of fire, and wine as one of mankind’s great inventions. Its ability to hold almost anything together could be critical here.

A long bungee cord, and even an old coat hanger.

A multipurpose tool like a Swiss Army knife wrapped in an oil-soaked cloth, and put it in a water-proof baggie to make sure it doesn’t get rusted shut.

Lock de-icer and gas-line anti-freeze.

A bag of kitty litter or salt, to create some grip where none exists.

A flashlight is a good idea but chances are the batteries will be dead when needed, so make sure it will also operate off the 12-volt system.

Last but not least, something to read while whiling away the hours until rescue arrives.

Now figure out a way to keep these things in place, to prevent it from sliding around in the trunk or cargo compartment.

Find an old towel, blanket or bag, then a bungee cord or Velcro.

If there is a spot to fasten the cord, that will suffice when wrapped around the towel, blanket or bag. I

If the area where the bag will reside is carpeted, a patch of Velcro on to the bottom of the bag will do a job.
