SACKVILLE, N.B. – As the weather turns to warmer, springlike temperatures, Sackville’s Fire Chief is urging the community to avoid burning piles of leaves or trash in an effort to get rid of them.
Fire Chief Craig Bowser said his department has been seeing an increase in rubbish fires this spring in the area and reminds residents that, under fire prevention bylaw 204, this is strictly prohibited within town limits.
“There is a bylaw in place that prohibits outdoor fires,” he said.
He said outdoor fires are only permitted when using an outdoor wood burning appliance, which is a manufactured non-combustible enclosed container designed to hold a small fire, for “recreational or entertainment purposes only.”
