Council approves motions for Fall Fair activities

SACKVILLE, N.B. – As Sackville’s annual Fall Fair draws nearer, the town has approved several street closures, time exemptions, etc. for the festivities, which will be held this year from Sept. 18-21.

During its monthly meeting, town council accepted the following motions:

–Council awarded the Fall Fair agricultural field day a $3,000 grant from the community development, programming and tourism special events budget.

–Council granted the temporary street closure of Bridge Street, from Lorne Street to Main Street, on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 a.m. until Sunday, Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. to facilitate the installation and use of a tent for community events during Fall Fair.

–Council granted a time exemption from 11 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20 for the Fall Fair activities on Bridge Street.

–Council granted permission to the Fall Fair organizing committee to operate a bar service in a secured area on Bridge Street on Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20.

–Council authorized the closure of Main Street, from King Street to Queens Road, and Queens Road, from Main Street to Salem Street, on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. for the Fall Fair parade

–Council authorized the fire chief to complete an application for a commercially-organized and operated fireworks display by MAC Fireworks Inc. at the Lorne Street ball field on Friday, Sept. 19, at a cost of about $8,000.
