SACKVILLE, N.B. â€“ The Sackville Swim Club attended the 51st annual provincial team championships last weekend, with amazing results.
Eighteen Sackville swimmers took part in the meet, which was held at the Universite de Moncton campus in Edmundston. The Sackville team was one of 13 from across New Brunswick competing for the provincial title. The Sackville team was very successful winning 18 medals.
Leading the way for Sackville was Martin Peters, with six individual medals that included two gold and three silvers and one bronze. Martin's medals came in the 50,100 and 200 fly and the 100,200 and 50 free. This was Martin last provincial championships as he will be attending Mount A next year. Martin has won 10 individual provincial championship titles over his tenure with the Sackville Swim Club.
Zoe Estabrooks had three silver medals in the 50,100 and 200 fly.
Oliver Premier and Luther Edson both had three silver medals in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststrokes.
Meghan Dobbin had two medals, silver in the 50 free and a bronze in the 200 free.
Annie Dysart had two bronze medals in the 400 and 50 free.
Also attending the meet for Sackville were Quinn, Tuesday and Zoey Cober, Cecilia Watt, Dashiel Edson, Nolan Dobbin, Catherine Premier, Cameron Evans, Max Beaver, Molly Dysart, Maeve Cockshutt and Olivia Tower. All swimmers had personal best times and advanced to the evening finals.
Coach John Peters was very proud, saying "they worked extremely hard this year and the work paid off."
The Sackville team is now getting ready for the New Brunswick long course championship in Saint John May 29 and the outdoor championship in Quispamsis in mid-June.
