This winter has been a skiers’ paradise in the Tantramar with cool weather and ample snowfall. The cross-country ski trails at the reservoir gate have been a beehive of activity with huge numbers of skiers and snowshoers enjoying the nicely groomed trails and gorgeous winter forest.

This year marks the first year the Tantramar Outdoor Club has embarked on a jack rabbit learn to ski program for 4-12 year olds. The generous support of local MLA Mike Olscamp, the Department of Healthy and Inclusive Communities and the Town of Sackville has enabled the club’s volunteers to get 20 children on skis every week for an hour or two of exercise, fun and camaraderie.

The Tantramar Seniors College is once again offering a ski and snowshoe program under the experienced guidance of Cy Bernard and Roy Pierog.  Like their youthful counterparts, 18 seniors are similarly out exercising and no doubt doing a bit of gabbing every Friday morning.

Organizations: Tantramar Seniors College, Tantramar Outdoor Club, Department of Healthy and Inclusive Communities
